Go Eagles!
Kelly Hennelly

Welcome to the new 2019-2020 school year at Mark Twain! I was so lucky to be a part of the Mark Twain community and school environment this past year as the Second Grade TA, and look forward to continuing my career as the 2nd grade TA, while also helping as the First Grade TA until the position will be filled shortly. I am so eager to get to know the new students and families this year! My job is to support the 2nd grade teachers while offering enrichment and intervention strategies through small group and/or one-on-one instruction. In my past experience, I was a lead Kindergarten teacher for 12 years and a lead preschool teacher. I have a Master's degree from UMSL in Early Childhood Special Education and a Bachelor's degree from the University of Dayton in Early Childhood Education. In my free time, I enjoy long walks with my dog, playing tennis, and spending time with my friends and family. As an experienced Early Childhood Educator, I believe in providing a nurturing classroom environment filled with learning opportunities for children to grow in all areas of development.  Second Grade is a time for students to expand their love of learning, knowledge, ability to get along with others, and grow interest in reaching out to the world.
I hope for the students in the 2nd grade class to foster a lifelong enthusiasm for learning and to celebrate each student’s individuality with love and respect for others.  Our Mark Twain mission is to create the most comfortable place in which children feel safe and secure.  This optimal learning environment is a place where students are challenged and highly motivated to do their best.
